Furnace Tips for the Holidays

December 17, 2019

The holidays are a time for having large dinners or other events with family members and friends. Therefore, it is essential that your furnace is ready to keep everyone warm and safe while at your house. Let’s go over some ways that you can ensure that everyone can stay comfortable at your place this holiday season.

Schedule a Furnace Inspection or Service Appointment

The team at DuPree Heating & Air Conditioning in Joliet will be more than happy to come to your home and inspect your furnace. During an inspection, a trained technician will change out the air filter, check electrical connections, and take other steps to ensure that your home is kept warm and safe. In addition to furnace inspections, we can make repairs promptly to ensure that the system is working properly all winter long.

Have the Ducts Cleaned

Clean ducts will allow a greater amount of air generated by the furnace to circulate around the house. Furthermore, clean ducts are less of a fire hazard as they no longer have debris that could be flammable. Ultimately, you will be able to enjoy the company of others this holiday season without worrying about your heating bills or the safety of your guests.

Make Sure That Vents Aren’t Being Blocked

It is critical that you don’t have fully or partially blocked air vents in your home. At a minimum, you might force your furnace to work harder than necessary to keep your home at a comfortable temperature. However, there is also a risk that items near the vent will overheat and start to burn. Ideally, you will keep the position of vents in mind when deciding where to put the Christmas tree or where to hide presents for the kids.

If you need HVAC service, give us a call today. We will be happy to repair your furnace and air conditioner or provide other home maintenance services such as carbon monoxide testing.
